What is Living in Wembley like?

Wembley is an iconic area of North London known for its diverse population, great transport links and plethora of things to see and do. It’s also the home of English football, with the world-famous Wembley Stadium towering over the area, recognisable for miles around thanks to its famous arch.

A quick introduction to the Wembley area

Even if you don’t know much about London, chances are high that you’ve heard of Wembley. It’s known all over the world thanks to the legendary stadium, which has gone through a couple of iterations over the years. The original stadium stood for 80 years, recognisable thanks to the two towers. The new stadium opened in 2007 and now hosts sporting events and concerts with regular crowds of more than 90,000 people.

But there’s far more to Wembley than just the stadium. Over the last few years, it’s been the focus of a huge regeneration project, transforming the area into one that’s modern and vibrant. There’s now a swathe of brand-new shops, restaurants, entertainment and residential developments, making it a hugely desirable place to live.

Thanks to great transport links, getting around the area, into London and across the country is a doddle. There are also plenty of event spaces, parks, gyms and nightlife spots which means you’re never short of ways to keep active and have fun.

Locals are proud of Wembley and the area it has become. If you’re a football fan it’s the home of the beautiful game, but there’s also plenty more on offer here too.

Transport links from Wembley

Whether you need to get around Wembley or head into the city, there are plenty of options in and around the area. There are also great national transport links, so there are plenty of options to get you where you need to go.

There are three tube stations in Wembley, so you’re never too far from a station:

• Wembley Park has platforms for the Jubilee Line and Metropolitan Line
• Wembley Central has platforms for the Bakerloo Line and the London Overground
• North Wembley is served by the Bakerloo Line

From Wembley Central, you can catch the Overground to Watford Junction and Euston, for easy access to the rest of the UK.

There’s also a National Rail station at Wembley Stadium, which offers trains operated by Chiltern Railways into Marylebone and north to Birmingham.

If you’re headed somewhere specific, there are plenty of bus routes, taxi ranks and walking and cycle paths. If transport is a major deciding factor for choosing somewhere to live, then Wembley should shoot right to the top of your list of considerations.

How safe is Wembley?

Like with most busy urban areas, crime in and around Wembley is higher than the average rate across the UK. But, it is considered a safer area than many other parts of the capital.

Over the last three years, there have been approximately 500 recorded crimes in Wembley Park per quarter. The most common crimes include violence and sexual offences, theft from a person and anti-social behaviour. But, this shouldn’t put you off the area, as this is reflective of the rest of the capital. It has a crime rate of 6 out of 10, which is average, so you should feel perfectly safe living in Wembley Park. 

During times when there are events at Wembley Stadium and the Arena, you’ll notice an increased police and security presence around Wembley, which helps control the crowds and increased population in the area during these times.

• See a flick at Cineworld – Cineworld Wembley has nine screens showing the latest blockbusters, and even has 4D screenings which put you in the heart of the action
• Explore the culture – Wembley is a cultural haven, which you can explore by visiting the likes of the incredible Hindu Temple or the Ace Cafe
• Have some fun with bubbles and balls – There are some unique ways to have fun in Wembley, including the immersive bubble planet and the eclectic Pop Golf
• Sink a drink at a local pub – There are loads of places to grab a drink and relax, including BOXPARK Wembley, The White Horse and assortment of watering holes around the stadium
