As you’d expect from the city that spawned bands like Oasis and The Smiths, two rival football clubs, and, of course, the most famous fictional Street on UK television, the cultural scene in Manchester ain’t too shabby. And, Orient House is perfectly situated to make the most of it.
For music, walk 10 minutes south and you’ll find yourself at Manchester’s best venue for live music The Deaf Institute, or, stroll up to the Northern Quarter to take your pick from the bars and lounges serving up live gigs most nights. There’s also Piccadilly Records not too far on Oldham Street which should keep all you vinyl heads happy.
For something more cultured, check out the shows just down the road at Palace Theatre or jump on a bus off to The Whitworth Gallery to see what’s happening on the art scene.
Of course, whether you’re a blues or a reds supporter, Orient House gives quick and easy transport access to both Etihad and Old Trafford.
You’re spoilt for choice with Manchester’s booming range of food and drink options, all within walking distance from Orient House.
Head over to Northern Quarter and Ancoats to check out some of our favourite spots including The Alchemist for a sparkling prosecco, Dusk til Pawn for great cocktails and a free jukebox, or The Crown & Kettle where a pint will leave you change from 3 quid. Of course, you can always nip around the corner to The Molly House for tapas and a few cheeky ones, or, our local Japanese joint Yuzu. But we’ll let you explore!
Our city centre location puts you within walking distance of a both high-street stores and independent shops, as well as designer boutiques and fresh food markets.
You can easily access Exchange Square and the Arndale Centre via foot or tram in under 20 minutes. While you’re there, check out the quirky one-off shops in Afflecks and the Northern Quarter. For weekend markets, Piccadilly Gardens is only a 10 minute stroll. The closest grocery store is SPAR, just a minute’s walk at the end of the street.
UNCLE Manchester is right in the middle of all the action, so if you’re happy to walk, you’ll never need to take public transport to get around the city. We’re located about a 5 minute stroll to Piccadilly or less than 10 to Oxford Road stations. You can jump on a tram from Piccadilly train station. You can also hop on a free bus service there which runs around the city.
